Manage overseas suppliers for greater accuracy and product quality

Datastay is a leading provider of customizable, on-demand business applications designed to support complex business processes such as product lifecycle management (PLM), quality management (QM) and new product introduction (NPI). Datastay has helped several organizations better manage their overseas suppliers in 2008 resulting in higher product quality achievements across the board.

Within the manufacturing industry, there is a growing trend in overseas plant investments, joint ventures and supply relationships with companies based in China and India. Throughout the year, there has been an increase in the number of organizations that have deployed Datastay applications to integrate overseas suppliers more closely in their product development processes, quality systems or both.

"There are obvious benefits to using offshore approaches to reduce costs, but it is also important to keep in mind that it is difficult to collaboratively work across great distances and varied time-zones" commented Michael Lieberman, a Datastay business development representative. He added "Just last year, Datastay helped several organizations by providing on-demand solutions that make it easy to interact with and manage partners that are eating lunch, while we sleep."

With Datastay, it is easy to securely integrate overseas suppliers and partners directly into a company's existing business processes and capture all relevant communications in a single collaborative environment, while providing users with information in their local language. Datastay eliminates the frustrations associated with sharing documents and communicating through e-mail, leading to faster responses, faster execution and greatly increased accuracy.

Free PLM Whitepaper from Datastay

Datastay Corp., a leading provider of customizable, on-demand applications designed to support complex business processes such as product lifecycle management (PLM), quality management (QM), and new product introduction (NPI), presents the first in its PLM Fundamentals whitepaper series, entitled: "A Framework For Approaching PLM Initiatives". The full whitepaper is now available for free on the Datastay web site.

The first in this series of whitepapers discusses a ground-up approach to product lifecycle management that can help organizations looking at PLM for the first time, or those that have already implemented systems. It focuses on the strategic considerations that must be given to any PLM initiative based on key principles:

- The fundamental objective of every PLM initiative is to maximize the profits that are contributed by each product to the organization's bottom line.

- Every organization already has a PLM system in place which guides how products are managed across their lifecycle, from concept through to eventual market withdrawal.

- A strategic approach to PLM requires a comprehensive assessment of the processes that make up the PLM system in order to determine possible areas of improvement.

- Any process improvements that are undertaken as part of a PLM initiative must be strategic in nature and affect the organization's bottom line.

- The choices as to which, if any software tools or system an organization should employ in its PLM initiatives

Webinar: Using Cloud Computing to Weather an Economic Storm

Datastay will be hosting a webinar on February 27th, 2009 at 2:00pm EST titled "Using Cloud Computing to Weather an Economic Storm." During the 30 minute webinar, topics to be discussed include:

-  What is cloud computing and Software-as-a-service?
-  How to build a competitive edge using Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Cloud Computing
-  How SaaS allows organizations to focus on their core competencies
-  How to derive business value from your current IT investments

With the recent economic downturn, there has been increased pressure on IT managers and executives to stretch their budgets and make investments into worthwhile technologies that provide specific business benefits to their organizations. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions such as Datastay are on-demand and delivered over the internet helping businesses to avoid hardware upgrades and capital-equipment costs, while allowing them to focus on their core competencies.

With increased pressure and tighter budgets, organizations are abstaining from the extra costs and risks associated with large, long-term implementation projects. Software delivered as a service is based upon a monthly pay-as-you-go model and has the ability to be switched on or off at very short notice reducing upfront payments, making costs scalable and reducing implementation risks. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a viable and practical alternative to traditional client/server applications that are expensive and require long and risky implementations.

"There are many factors that IT managers and executives should consider when looking at new technologies to implement" said Samantha Morris, Marketing Programs Manager at Datastay, "During the webinar, we will discuss the important features that make Software-as-a-Service an attractive option in times of economic uncertainty, specifically lower overall costs, quick implementations and less risk, all of which are extremely important to consider for those who will be embarking on new IT projects in 2009."

Also to be discussed are the business benefit associated with SaaS such as easier upgrades, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), global availability, enhanced collaboration, integration and other topics that will help IT mangers and executives obtain internal buy-in.

Space is very limited. To reserve your webinar seat please visit www.datastay.com to register.
